Here are 3 delicious fresh spirulina recipes you need to try!

1. Spirulina Smoothie

One of the best ways to consume spirulina is by mixing it in a smoothie. Combine the superfood spirulina with a number of other healthy ingredients for a vitamin-packed meal. There’s a myriad of spirulina smoothie recipes, but this one is our favorite:

  • One serving of fresh spirulina
  • Half cup of sliced cucumber
  • One chopped banana
  • One cup of spinach or kale
  • One cup of milk (you can also use almond or coconut milk)
  • One tablespoon of hemp seeds, chia seeds, or flax seeds

Place all ingredients in a blender and combine.

2. Spirulina Berry Smoothie Bowl

As an alternative, you can make a smoothie bowl. Unlike traditional smoothies, smoothie bowls are thicker and you make them in larger quantities. You also top the smoothie bowl with extra ingredients of your choice.

Our favorite spirulina smoothie bowl is this one that contains the sweetness of berries. Here’s the recipe:

  • One serving of fresh spirulina
  • One cup of frozen mixed berries (if you can’t find pre-packaged berries, use the berries of your choice)
  • One cup of milk (you can use vegan alternatives such as almond or coconut milk)
  • One chopped banana
  • Small handfuls of spinach and kale

Place all ingredients in a blender and combine until well-blended. Pour in a bowl and top with fresh fruit and other toppings of your choice.

3. Spirulina Super Bites

If you’re looking for a healthy snack, you can make these delicious spirulina super bites! They’re filled with spirulina and other power-packed ingredients to leave you full and satisfied.

You’ll need:

  • One serving of chopped fresh spirulina
  • One cup of milled seed mix
  • 1/3 cup of almond butter
  • 10 pitted dates
  • Pinch of Himalayan sea salt
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract

Mix dates and milled seed mix in a food processor until blended. Add the rest of the ingredients until combined. The consistency should be sticky. Scoop out small amounts (about one teaspoon at a time) and roll them into balls.

Leave them in the refrigerator for two or three days. For faster consumption, store them in the freezer for an hour.
